Hide updates you make on your Facebook account profile (Delete Recent Activity)
Most of the changes you make on your Facebook profile are "recorded" by showing the action in your "Recent Activity" log; in some cases, you may not want other Facebook users to realize that you've made some updates on your profile (although they will possibly find out by themselves later on). To do that, all you need to do is manually remove updates from your Recent Activity, as we'll explain in this free Facebook tutorial.
Delete Recent Activity items from your Facebook account
Follow these steps to remove / hide recent activity on your profile:
- After you have edited your Facebook profile, and saved the updates, a log has most often been created inside your "Recent Activity". (Exceptions include changing your privacy settings, for example, which is not shown on your public Facebook page under Recent Activity.)
- To check your Recent Activity or delete an entry from it, click on the "Profile" link at the top of the page. Your Wall should load automatically; if not, click on the "Wall" link.
- Notice that under the "What's on your mind?" box, your Recent Activity is listed in detail:
- These updates include changing city, employer, installing applications, relationship status, etc.
- To remove any of these updates in your Recent Activity, just move your mouse cursor above the one you want to delete, and the text "Remove" will appear on the right:
- Just slide your mouse to the right, and the word "Remove" will become a clickable button, as shown on the screenshot. Click on it to delete this particular Recent Activity log. To prevent accidents, Facebook will first display a "Delete Post - Are you sure you want to delete this post?" final confirmation message.
- Click on the "Delete" button to permanently erase this particular update in your Recent Activity.
- Facebook will permanently remove this item from your Recent Activity.
While Facebook lets you delete content from your Recent Activity log whenever you want, keep in mind that part of the appeal of Facebook is to see what your friends are doing; without Recent Activity to look at, your public profile may lose some of its appeal!
